Aqua Max 40kg Silica Filter Sand

Pool-grade silica filter sand for swimming pool sand filters. This 40kg bag is graded to the correct particle size (0.4–0.8mm) for effective pool water filtration, trapping dirt, debris, and particles down to approximately 20 microns. One 40kg bag fills a 1-bag sand filter. For larger filters, order the quantity that matches your filter’s sand capacity — for example, a 3-bag filter requires 3 x 40kg bags (120kg total).

When to Replace Filter Sand

Filter sand loses its rough edges over time as water flows through it, reducing its ability to trap fine particles. Replace your filter sand every 5–7 years, or sooner if you notice the pool water stays cloudy despite regular backwashing and correct chemical balance. When replacing, remove all old sand before adding new sand — do not top up on old sand.

How Much Sand Do I Need?

Match the number of bags to your filter size. 1-bag filter: 1 x 40kg. 2-bag filter: 2 x 40kg (80kg). 3-bag filter: 3 x 40kg (120kg). 4-bag filter: 4 x 40kg (160kg). 5-bag filter: 5 x 40kg (200kg).
