The Aqua Max cobalt mosaic tile is a single 300 x 300mm sheet of glossy, deep blue porcelain mosaic for swimming pools. Each sheet holds a 6 x 6 grid of square tiles on a mesh backing, so you lay 36 tiles at once instead of one by one. Because you can buy it per sheet, it is ideal for repairs, small features or topping up an existing waterline band.

Where to Use a Cobalt Mosaic Tile

Most pool owners use cobalt mosaic for the waterline band, where it hides the scum line and frames the pool. However, it also works well on step edges, spa surrounds, water features and feature walls. For larger areas, the same colour is available in a 22-sheet pack.

How Many Sheets Do I Need?

Each sheet covers 0.09m², which means you need about 11 sheets per square metre. For a waterline band, one sheet covers 300mm of length at full height. For example, an 8m x 4m pool has a 24m perimeter, so a full-height band needs 80 sheets. On the other hand, a 150mm band uses half-sheets, so it needs 40. Always add around 10% for cuts, corners and breakages.

Installation Tips

1. First, make sure the surface is clean, sound and dry.
2. Next, spread a pool-grade tile adhesive rated for permanent underwater use.
3. Then press each sheet firmly into the adhesive, mesh side down, and keep the joints between sheets even.
4. After the adhesive sets, grout the joints with a waterproof pool grout.
5. Finally, let the adhesive and grout cure fully, as the manufacturer instructs, before you fill the pool.
