What Is a Pool Weir

Your pool weir sits in the pool wall at water level. Water flows over the weir flap and into the body. Then the basket catches leaves, insects, and floating debris before the water moves on to the pump. A cracked weir body causes air leaks. These air leaks make the pump lose prime and reduce filtration. In fact, a persistent air leak can burn out your pump motor entirely. If your weir body has cracked or your basket no longer seats properly, replacing the complete weir is faster than sourcing individual parts.

What You Get in the Box

This complete pool weir includes four components. First, the weir body that mounts into the pool wall. Second, the deck collar lid that sits flush with the coping. Third, a hinged weir flap door that controls water flow. Finally, the removable weir basket for catching debris. Lift the basket out at least once a week for cleaning. During autumn and spring, clean it more often because leaf fall increases significantly. Also check that the weir flap swings freely. If it sticks or does not close on its own, debris can flow back into the pool when the pump switches off.
