Aqua Max 40kg Silica Filter Sand

Aqua Max Silica Sand is the standard filter media for swimming pool sand filters. The graded silica particles trap dirt, debris, and fine particles as pool water passes through the sand bed. One 40kg bag fills a 1-bag filter. For larger filters, you need multiple bags — 2 bags for a 2-bag filter (80kg), 3 bags for a 3-bag filter (120kg), and 4 bags for a 4-bag filter (160kg).

When to Replace

Replace pool filter sand every 18–24 months. Signs that your sand needs changing: poor water clarity despite regular backwashing, short filter cycles (pressure rises quickly after backwash), or channelling visible through the filter lid. Old sand becomes rounded and smooth, losing its ability to trap fine particles.
