Aqua Max Glass Pool Filter Media – 20kg Sand Replacement

Aqua Max glass pool filter media is a premium, eco-friendly replacement for silica sand in any standard pool sand filter. Since it is made from 100% recycled soda-lime glass, it also gives you cleaner water, faster flow and less maintenance. As a result, you spend less time on the pool and less money on chemicals.

Why Choose Glass Pool Filter Media Over Sand?

• Clearer water: First of all, glass traps finer particles than sand, so your water stays sparkling.
• No channelling or clumping: Because the smooth granules resist compaction, water flows evenly through the whole filter bed for years.
• Lower chemical costs: Similarly, glass resists bio-film and bacteria build-up. Consequently, you use less chlorine and flocculant.
• Quicker backwashing: In addition, shorter backwash cycles save both water and electricity.
• Longer life: Moreover, it lasts up to 6 years, roughly three times longer than silica sand.
• Silica-free: Because it contains no crystalline silica, it is safer to handle when you change your media.
• Eco-friendly: Also, recycled glass keeps waste out of landfill and supports a circular economy.

Performance Benefits

Because glass pool filter media keeps its shape, it maintains high flow rates with minimal pump strain. Furthermore, it handles pet hair, fine sand and other debris that often clog a sand bed. In addition, it works with all standard pool sand filters and multiport valves, so you need no plumbing changes.

How Much Glass Pool Filter Media Do I Need?

Because glass is lighter than sand, you need less of it by weight. In general, 100kg of glass replaces 120kg of sand. Note that the table below uses 40kg sand bags and 20kg glass bags:

Tip: For best results, always round up to the nearest full bag. As a result, you get the best filter performance and a longer media life. For larger filters, the Aqua Max glass media 2 pack (2 x 20kg) also works out cheaper per bag.

How to Swap Sand for Glass

1. First, switch off the pump and remove the multiport valve.
2. Next, scoop out the old sand and check the laterals for cracks.
3. Then cover the standpipe and half-fill the tank with water to cushion the laterals.
4. After that, pour in the glass, refit the valve and backwash for 2–3 minutes.
5. Finally, rinse for 30 seconds and switch back to filter.
