Aqua Max Multiport Valve Head – Replacement Top

The Aqua Max multiport valve head is the replacement top section of your sand filter’s multiport valve. It includes the white lid, the black selector handle and the rotor underneath that directs water to each position. Because you only replace the head, you can fix a worn or broken valve without cutting out the whole valve body or re-plumbing your filter.

When to Replace Your Multiport Valve Head

Over time, sunlight, pressure and daily use wear out the top of the valve. For example, you may notice any of these problems:

• First, the lid is cracked or leaks water around the edge.
• The handle is broken, loose or very stiff to turn.
• In addition, the handle no longer clicks firmly into each position.
• Finally, the valve no longer selects Filter, Backwash or Rinse correctly.

However, if water runs to waste while the valve is on Filter, the wagon wheel gasket may be the only part at fault. So check the gasket first, because it costs less to replace.

How to Fit a Multiport Valve Head

1. First, switch off the pump and set the valve to Closed, if the handle still turns.
2. Next, undo the screws around the lid and lift off the old head.
3. Then clean the valve body and check the lid O-ring and wagon wheel gasket for wear.
4. After that, seat the new head squarely and tighten the screws evenly. Do not over-tighten them into the plastic.
5. Finally, start the pump and check for leaks around the lid.

Important: Always switch off the pump before you move the handle. Also, never run the pump with the valve on Closed.

Compatibility

This head fits Aqua Max standard multiport valves. Therefore, compare your old head with the photo before you order, and check that the screw holes and diameter match. If your valve body is also cracked, replace the whole Aqua Max glued multiport valve instead.
